Paragraph Writing Rubric
Day 1 Paragraph Topic:
In your life I am sure you have had some pretty fun times. I would like you to explain to Mr. Papple what THE BEST, THE MOST EXCITING, THE MOST TALKED ABOUT MOMENT OF YOUR LIFE! What is the best memory you have growing up?
Day 2 Paragraph Topic:
The world is a big beautiful planet with many amazing things to see and do. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? Explain your destination of choice and provide three reasons to support your response.
Day 3 Paragraph Topic:
Think of your favourite meal of all time. The one thing that you can never get enough of. The meal that you always crave. Explain to Mr. Papple what your favourite meal/food of all time is. Provide three reasons why this is your favourite food. Make sure you focus on the descriptive words to make Mr. Papple's mouth water.
Day 4 Paragraph Topic:
There are leaders amongst us in every class. What are qualities that make a good leader? Which classmate would be the best to lead us through a zombie apocalypse? Provide three reasons to support your choice. Your choice should be reasonable and this person should be able to keep us safe.
Day 5 Paragraph Topic:
Who do you think is the most important/influential Canadian of all time? Use specific details, facts and opinions to support your choice.
Day 6 Paragraph Topic:
You are stranded on a small deserted island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. What is the one thing that you must have to survive an extended period of time on that island? Provide four reasons why you just can not live without this item.
Day 7 Paragraph:
If you were able to have one wish granted, what would you wish for? Explain your wish and provide three reasons to support it. You can not wish for money.
Day 8 Paragraph:
In the future you will need to make the biggest purchase of your life. A house. When you go to buy your house, what are three features your future house should have? Explain each feature and why it is something your future house must have.
Day 9 Paragraph:
What is the proudest moment of your life? Explain this moment to Mr. Papple and provide a minimum of three detailed reasons to support your response.
Day 10 Paragraph:
After seeing the first round of T.U.S.C presentations, who gave a presentation that you enjoyed? Explain who the person is, what they did for their role and provide three reasons to support your response. Your answer should be from a student in our class.
Class Novel: "The Darkest Minds" by Alexandra Bracken
This year at CPHS, all Intermediate class will be reading the novel The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. Once we have finished the novel, we will be going to see the film at the theatre.
